Poppers

Bass poppers are a top water presentation used to imitate frogs or other animals. While making a lot of noise on the surface and moving a lot of water bass can't help but to inspect and most often take the offering. Deer hair and pre-formed popper flies are your best bet, varying in colors and sizes from micro to medium.

Baitfish represent a broad range of fly patterns for imitating forage fish. Bass are opportunistic and lazy so when larger food comes along they usually opt for the steak instead of the chicken. Baitfish are used to catch larger more aggressive bass, that chase and hit with authority. Usually weighted to get down quickly, always be ready for a thunderous strike soon after the fly hits the water.
